So you really want to get back to nature? Then take a trip out to the gorgeous Cape Le Grand National Park.
It’s official – this rugged beauty boasts some of the finest beaches in Australia. Backed by massive granite peaks, heathlands full of wildflowers and an array of oh so cute Aussie wildlife like pygmy possums and kangaroos, nature doesn’t get much better than this.
A huge draw is the blindingly white sandy beaches that surround the National Park. Take your pick from numerous sheltered bays, with the dramatically named Hellfire Bay or the slightly more welcoming Lucky Bay being the two of the most popular. Swim, surf, go fishing or just find the perfect spot and relax on the pristine white sand.
Ever heard of a singing rock? Probably not, but you’ll find a few here. Thistle Cove is home to a collection of wind-sculpted rocks that appear to ‘whistle’ to each other. Not something you’re likely to see – or hear – every day. It’s a great spot for a picnic and you can burn some calories afterwards on the popular bush walk from here that leads down to Lucky Bay. Here, you’ll find stunning views of rugged wild heathlands plummeting into the Southern Ocean below along the way.
